Install Instructions for QwikQuote Version 6.3.007 and above.
FULL Setup File
STEP 1. Determine if any of the notes below pertain to your installation and react accordingly:
NOTE (1): If you will be using an external contact manager, such as ACT!, GoldMine, OUTLOOK etc., it would be best to install, open and test your Contact Manager before installing QwikQuote. Although you can install the contact manager at a later date, the installation will be much easier if QwikQuote is the final program that you install. This is because of a built-in software crawler in QwikQuote that auto-configures some of the setup files and other links.
NOTE (2): If you will be installing QwikQuote on a network, choose one workstation and complete the entire install procedure on the chosen workstation. When QwikQuote is operating OK on that workstation, you can repeat the same procedures on the others.
NOTE (3): If you already have QwikQuote on your computer, it would be best to remove it now. Go to the Control Panel of your computer and find ADD/REMOVE. Be sure to remove ONLY QwikQuote. Do not remove any other programs. The license file should not be removed and this procedure will not remove it. In addition, this procedure will not remove your data files, although it is always best to backup valuable data when performing an install operation such as this.
NOTE (4): If you had an older version of QwikQuote, the initial goal is to update your license file so that the new program will work with the new license. On a network, the license file is usually located on the shared network drive. On a single user QQ install, the license is usually located in C:\program files\QQ6. When installing the new setup file, it does not matter where the license file is located because the computer knows if it is already set up with a QwikQuote license. If you wish to determine where your computer or workstation is seeking a license file, check the SETUP WIZARD described later in these instructions.
NOTE(5): VISTA - If your computer uses the VISTA operating system, you must turn off the User Access Control (UAC) before installing any programs. Go to “Help and Support”. Type in the search term “UAC”. Then follow the computer generated instructions on how to turn off the UAC. If you have any questions, contact QwikQuote Tech Support.
STEP 2. Download, install and open the free Adobe Reader from the Adobe website (Vista users, see note #5 below). Be sure that you get the FREE Adobe Reader. The full versions are not useful for our purposes at this time. If you already have the Adobe Reader installed on your computer or workstation, then you do not have to perform this step. STEP 3. Download the QwikQuote Setup 6.3.007 file at the following Internet Link and save it on your computer or chosen client. It is important to remember where you save it:

STEP 4. After you have uninstalled any old QwikQuote programs that may be on your computer, shut down as many other programs as possible. Then run the Full Install Setup.exe file that you downloaded in step number 2. When you run this setup program, it will initially expand the license box and might not proceed until you enter a license number. If you have not had QwikQuote on your computer before, you will be able to run it as a demo for 30 days without a serial number. If it asks for a serial number, see the step #5 below on how to enter the new serial number.
STEP 5. QwikQuote might not operate properly until a new serial number is entered. If you are running a “Demo”, you do not need a serial number – the full version of QwikQuote will operate for 30 days without a serial number but you will have to “config” as described here. Get your new serial number ready to COPY into your clipboard. When entering the new serial number, DO NOT TYPE IT IN – JUST COPY and paste - using your mouse. To enter the new serial number, go to START/PROGRAMS/QWIKQUOTE 6/QWIKQUOTE SETUP WIZARD – then navigate to the first tab called “config”. The top of the new license box will read 6.3.0.7. BE sure that the radio button is checked for “Workstation” or “Single” user, as appropriate. If on a network, be sure that the “Network location” is correct. If on a single user computer, the best license location is the default location, usually C://Program Files/QQ6. Delete any old serial numbers that may exist. Then use your mouse to paste (do not hand type) in the new serial number. If this is a demo, no serial number is needed, just select the “DEMO” tab. Finally hit the “config” button in the middle of the page.
STEP 6. To test - launch QwikQuote and check help/about for the new serial number and new version number - V. 6.3.0.7.
If on a network, you should run the full install file that was downloaded in step #3 on each individual client. It will NOT be necessary to enter the serial number again because it will have already been placed on the shared drive by the first client install. Just run the .exe setup file, go into the setup wizard and run “config”.
STEP 7. After the serial number has been entered properly, you have 30 days to enter an activate key. To get an activate key, go to setup wizard – and select the tab on the top-right called “Email Registration”. If you are on a POP 3 account, you can send the information automatically to us. When we send you the activate key, you can enter it under the LICENSE INFORMATION” tab. If you are not on a POP 3 email account, you must copy the information on the page into your clipboard and email it to support@qwikquote.com.
STEP 8. Final Notes – When QwikQuote is open, on the desktop page, you will see a large tab called “OPTIONS”. Select “OPTIONS”. Then select the tab called “Contact”. Be sure that the contact manager is properly selected and properly set up. If you are not using an external contact manager, you should select “QwikQuote”. The QwikQuote contact manager is a free flat file database that is used as a default for everyone who does not select an external contact manager. At this time, navigate to the tab called “File Locations”. This lists the locations of most of your data files. If you are using a single user setup, it is best to leave the default locations as listed. On a network, you would point to the shared locations.
About Your QwikQuote License – SETUP WIZARD
Setup Wizard – The license information can be found and configured in the SETUP WIZARD. To launch the SETUP WIZARD, go to START/PROGRAMS/QWIKQUOTE6/QWIKQUOTE SETUP WIZARD. The center tab of the setup wizard is called “license information”. This is where you will find the details concerning you license.
Your QwikQuote License consists of 3 different numbers.1. Serial Number is supplied by QwikQuote when you buy copy. Serial numbers should be entered by using the mouse to paste the number in place. Once you enter your Serial Number for the first time, QwikQuote should operate OK for a few months without having to enter any of the other numbers. If you are changing from an old to a new serial number, however, you may need to enter BOTH the new serial number and the new activate key at the same time in order to change the registration.2. Machine key is exclusive to your machine and is generated by your computer.
3. Activate Key can be obtained by registering your copy of the program. When you send QwikQuote the Serial number and machine key, we will send you your activate key. The easiest way to get an activate key is to go into the 3rd tab in the setup wizard called “Email Registration”. If you have a POP 3 email account, all you need to do is complete the information and click “send”. If you do not have a POP3 email account, you should copy the information into a clip board, paste it it into an email, and send it to support@qwikquote.com.
